Hi, I'm Katie! I'm the artist behind Painted Mare Studios. I've loved horses as long as I can remember. My earliest memories are of pouring through books, videos, and pictures of horses. I wanted to own a horse and would beg every year for one. While it wouldn't be something that was possible for many years, I could turn to model horses.

I have also always had a love for art. Lots and lots of drawing time was spent as I'd create my own illustrations for stories or just make decorations to hang on the walls of my room. While I was collecting models, I discovered the world of customizing models. My perfect world was before me. I could combine my love of art and horses and create something I wanted to display. I started with earth pigments and acrylics and painted the horses that filled my mind and daydreams. Fast forward about 10 years and I've been able to turn this into a business.

I create my models with PanPastels, acrylics, and pencils. As a very detail oriented person (or maybe just an overthinker?), details are super important to me. Everything from prep work to detail work gets lots of scrutiny and attention. I want to put out my very best work possible.

I sell my work on various sales platforms and my social media pages. Currently my commissions are tentatively open. I am happy to discuss what you'd like to have created and I can see if it's something I'm able to do.
